Dr John Eastman, one of our directors, is presenting at the Excellence in Postgraduate Education workshop at Cranfield University on the 26th April 2018.
The workshop is free to attend with some places still available at the last time of checking. The focus is on innovation in postgraduate teaching methods.
Here is the abstract of John’s talk, entitled Technology enhanced learning to support postgraduate education:
Over the last 10 years I have been involved in a number of high profile undergraduate and postgraduate level projects to embed learning technology into taught programs.
At postgraduate level we have typically used web based systems such as a virtual learning environment and e-portfolio system and used them to create integrated systems in which to
- embed interactive learning content
- create collaboration opportunities
- streamline project choice and submission
- help students recognise the skills they are developing
- support student CV planning
- support core skills development
These solutions have been used for both local and dispersed cohorts in single or multiple institution settings, through either Centres for Doctoral Training or Doctoral Training Partnerships. In this talk I will look at what has worked well and not so well, the challenges and pitfalls as well as the successes.
John will be happy to talk about your teaching or any Learning Science offerings during any of the session breaks.
